EXFOLIATOR - NO MICROBEADS!
We've made it through to 2018 and the first phase of the UK ban on plastic microbeads has been started as the government hopes to crack down on marine plastic pollution. As Flint+Flint, we are an animal-friendly brand so were more than happy to comply and have made sure our exfoliator only contains eco beads and no plastic to be seen!
What is the ban?
The ban states that plastic microbeads can no longer be used in cosmetic and personal products in the UK
What are microbeads?
Microbeads are tiny pieces of plastic that are added to everyday cosmetic products face washes, toothpaste, abrasive cleaners and many more! They are most frequently made of polyethene but can be made from other plastics such as polypropylene and polystyrene. Microbeads are that small, they can easily go down your plughole and pass through water filtration systems, they are usually smaller than 5 millimetres.
Why and how does this affect marine life?
New scientific research is continuing to find more and more examples of plastic inside all kinds of sea life. But it’s not just marine life, a recent study showed that 90% of birds have plastic in their stomachs too! Microbeads often end up in humans through toothpaste and through eating seafood that has ingested microplastics and the toxins that come with them. So simply, it goes down through the plug hole, into our oceans, eaten by sea life, we then eat the sea life and also digest it.
What does Flint+Flint Exfoliator 2X Contain?
