With age comes experience and you’ve now become a pro when it comes to protecting against sun damage. Sunscreen in your handbag has become an essential, there is SPF in your lip balm and all over your skin. But you could still have plenty of sun damage left over from your youth. (Remember squirming away from your mum as she tried to coat you with sunblock?).

Unfortunately, sun damage isn't only skin-deep. UV radiation alters the actual DNA of your skin cells, causing lines, wrinkles, sunspots and discolouration. This is why we have created our essential Repair Kit to target sun damaged, dull or pigmented skin, it’s suitable for all skin types.

The kit includes the Glycolic Cleanser, Serum, SPF30 Primer and Moisturiser 3x. We suggest you use the Glycolic Cleanser one or twice a week, leave on the skin for 1-2 mins, then rinse thoroughly and dry. Apply Serum in small amounts and massage into the skin. During the daytime, always apply SPF30 Primer over Serum. Lastly follow your skincare regime with our Moisturiser or Moisturiser 3x over other products to lock in the benefits and moisture.

So, how do we prevent further sun damage?

When talking about sun damage we often hear the terms UVA & UVB but what is the difference? The only important thing to know is that both types of the sun’s rays penetrate the atmosphere and contribute to cosmetic skin damage and cancer. UVA rays are mostly responsible for premature ageing and UVB rays are the ones that burn, potentially leading to permanent damage over time.

We have devised a four-step plan to stay protected all year round:

  1. For about 80 percent of the average person's lifetime sun exposure is incidental—which means it occurs during daily activities, not lying on the beach. If you're planning on being out in the sun for longer than 15 minutes, make sure to use a sunscreen with SPF 30. If you use a moisturiser, save a step and use a moisturiser or primer with SPF.
  2. Protect Your Eyes - One of the first areas to show signs of ageing, the skin around the eyes, needs extra hydration even if the rest of your face doesn’t. The Flint + Flint Eye Hero will boost hydration and help with fine lines and wrinkles.
  3. Moisturise Your Lips—they age too! The truth is that most of us neglect our thin-skinned lips when it comes to the sun's rays—leaving our them particularly vulnerable to painful sunburns and the lip lines and wrinkles associated with ageing. Remember to always apply (and reapply at least every hour) a lip-protection balm.
  4. Sunscreen...Again

Reapply, reapply, reapply! No sunscreen is completely waterproof, sweat proof or rub proof.
