BUDGET VS BLOWOUT SKINCARE: BLONDIE BLOGGING REVIEW

Sophie, 24, A beauty, fitness and lifestyle blogger from Watford included our Eye Hero, Glycolic Cleanser and Moisturiser 3x in her Budget VS Blowout skincare review recently.  She realised that sometime you do get what you pay for and said she would use Flint + Flint products over her usual budget brand Nivea every time - "If you can afford it, do it, you won't regret it", read the full review here:

On Friday I posted part one of my budget VS blowout skin care products, so today is the second instalment; the blowout.

When I was approached by the lovely people at Flint + Flint I thought, wow, that stuff is expensive. But, on the flipside, after reading about the different products I backtracked. If the products do all they say they can, they’re going to be worth it.

For those of you unaware of the brand, Flint + Flint is a family-owned, English born and bred skincare company that also own a chain of cosmetic clinics in the UK. Its products are tried and tested, and if you don’t like them, you get your money back. For a company to be so sure of themselves that they openly boast about that option, you know you’re onto a good thing.

As always when talking about products, I ask what the company what they would recommend for my skin type. It’s all well and good going for the most expensive things, but if you get it through and it doesn’t agree with your skin type you’re going to moan and give it a bad review. Don’t be greedy, be smart.

The lovely Niamh at Flint + Flint asked my skin type and suggested I try out the Glycolic Cleanser (£30),Moisturiser 3x (£45), and Eye Hero (£37).

I’ll tell you what each of them are supposed to do, and what I thought of them when actually using.

Firstly, I had a shower and washed my face so it was super clean. I popped the Glycolic Cleanser and Moisturiser 3 x out of the (really cool, minimal but inviting) packaging and got some cotton pads ready to apply.

The Glycolic Cleanser is supposed to “resurface and purify with a salon quality glycolic for a fresher feel, clearer complexion and smoother more radiant looking skin.” Whacking all over my face for a minute, I waited for the clear gel to get to work, and when I removed with a flannel my skin really did feel better. It felt toned, not tight, unlike some other cleansers, it wasn’t oily or drying and it made my skin feel cleaner.

I then applied the Moisturiser 3x, which is “a rich repair cream that protects against glycation, boosts collagen and elastin production and regenerates the skin. It contains a powerful combination of active ingredients including Hyaluronic Acid, Retinol and Malikara Leaf to reverse the signs of premature ageing, whilst hydrating and nourishing the skin.”This moisturiser looks like honey and it smells divine. To me it smells a bit like what it look likes, and it feels like heaven when rubbing on your face. It’s nourishing, hydrating and I couldn’t wait to use it again. This is, by far, the best moisturiser I have ever used.

And finally, when I wake up sometimes my eyes look like I haven’t slept for months. It’s annoying, but lack of sleep and busy lifestyle means its inevitable. Eye Hero is a “minimising bespoke eye treatment containing a combination of powerful active ingredients including instant soft focus technology, peptides and anti-glycation, Silk Tree Extract to regenerate the skin, reduce fine lines and boost collagen. It also soothes, hydrates and eases the signs of fatigue.” I don’t know about fine lines and wrinkles just yet, but I do find that my eyes look a lot perkier after a week’s use of the product and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an intensive eye treatment. It gives me a bit of a ‘glow’ in the morning, as opposed to the dragged through a hedge backwards look I normally have.

I love this range so much that I’m desperate to get a hold of the Exfoliator 2x and Lip Hero to complete my set, as I think these will be a must-have in the winter.

In terms of budget VS blowout, I love the Nivea range, but I would use the Flint + Flint products over it every time. No offence Nivea, I still love your products and they’re still my favourite budget brand, but Flint + Flint offer something that no other brand I’ve tried does. They’re luxury products, they make my skin feels gorgeous and they’re simple to use. If you can afford it, do it, you won’t regret it.
